House of Gigs Brings the Bands to DreamCon 2004

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) May 31, 2004--House Of Gigs will showcase several musical talents at DreamCon, a three-day genre convention being held June 11-13, 2004 in Jacksonville, Fla. at the Adam’s Mark Hotel.

And just as DreamCon will bring thousands of tourists to Jacksonville's up-and-coming downtown economy, House of Gigs was created as a Web-based opportunity dedicated to delivering lesser-known, indie and local bands to the largest audience possible.

"House of Gigs is thrilled to be producing the musical events at DreamCon, since the con itself expects to host thousands of attendees," says House of Gigs’ President Jon Boutelle. "This kind of event scale allows us to expose different types of music to a diverse audience. To that end, we’re making sure there’s a wide range of musical performances throughout the weekend — everything from the sumptuous, jazz stylings of Chase Masterson to the dark and heavy sounds of Yeti."

Other musical guests include the goth/folk sounds of Voltaire — in his first Florida show ever! — and the orchestral/gaming sounds of Select Start, as well as the funk/pop/rock beats of Jacksonville’s very own Fusebox Funk. Special guests of House of Gigs also include the nerdcore rap of MC Chris, the hard-driving goth/metal of Jacksonville’s Merry Widow, and the punk persuasion of Green Goblyn.

"Music is an intricate part of sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture," explains Boutelle. "For instance, ‘The Matrix’ just wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for its bass-pounding, techno-driven, metal soundtrack. When it comes to film or television, music adds so much … it can truly make or break a story."

As far as DreamCon is concerned, here’s who will be contributing to the tale of our inaugural year:

Chase Masterson Friday, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
FuseBox Funk Friday, 9:00-11:00 p.m.
Yeti Saturday, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Select Start Saturday, 8:45-9:30 p.m.
Voltaire Saturday, 9:45-11:00 p.m.
