Digital home software developer Meedio, LLC and global software publisher WSKA Software Corporation announce their partnership to resell Meedio’s software under the WSKA brand to customers worldwide.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 29, 2004 – Digital home software developer Meedio,
LLC and global software publisher WSKA Software Corporation are pleased to
announce their partnership to resell Meedio’s software under the WSKA brand to
customers worldwide. Meedio’s popular line of applications for digital media and
home automation will join other WSKA titles such as Nero 6, Internet
Confidential, Namo, and HyperSnap. Through this agreement, Meedio will license
WSKA to publish Meedio Essentials, Meedio TV, and Meedio HouseBot under WSKA’s
own brand through its direct, retail, and OEM channels.
Meedio Essentials is a standalone Windows application that turns an existing PC
into a media center capable of organizing, viewing, and playing digital media
and information using a remote control, touchscreen, or wireless PDA. It
includes integrated media players for music, movies, and photos, and can display
virtually any type of information stored on a PC or the Internet, including
weather forecasts, news headlines, websites and email. Meedio TV is a Digital
Video Recorder (DVR) that can be installed as a standalone Windows application
or as a plug-in module to Meedio Essentials. Meedio TV allows users to watch,
pause, schedule and record television programming using standard PC hardware.
For U.S. and Canadian customers, the application includes an integrated
Electronic Program Guide (EPG) that displays program information from Tribune
Media Services at no additional charge. WSKA has already arranged for EPG
services in France and is also planning to provide them in a number of English
and Spanish speaking markets.
Also sold as a standalone Windows application is Meedio HouseBot, which turns a
standard PC into a home automation controller. It can control lights,
appliances, and other devices through hardware interfaces that include X10,
Z-Wave, RS232, and infrared. It also includes a graphical interface designer to
create “software remotes” that can control the system from wired or wireless PCs
or PDAs.
Each of Meedio’s applications are designed to be easily customized and extended
by end-users and third-party developers. The Meedio Developers Network (MDN)
includes nearly 400 developers who have taken advantage of Meedio’s open
architecture to create new “plug-in” modules, graphical themes, and other
enhancements. Almost all of the more than 120 plug-ins developed so far are
offered for free or for voluntary donations, and require no other fees to access
and download.
WKSA was founded in 1991. Based in France and the USA, the company publishes a
limited number of titles per year, thus spending the necessary time and money to
market each one of them properly in French, English, German and Spanish speaking
markets.
“WSKA leadership in the French market with leading titles like Nero combined
with their vast knowledge and experience make for an ideal partner. We are
excited about bringing our technology to France and other markets through
partners like WSKA. Localization is a high priority for Meedio and working with
local partners ensures that the consumer receives the best value for their
money” says Meedio CEO Victor Koosh.
"We are delighted to be partnering with an organization that is so committed to
meeting customers expectations with innovative solutions. Meedio software
packages bring an answer to all these customers who want to combine the benefits
of their electronic appliances and access them through a centralized interface.
The emerging market of digital entertainment represents significant future
opportunities for all software developers and distributors. We, at WSKA
Software, are very excited about launching the Meedio technology under our own
brand name” says WSKA Managing Director Tim Kocher.
