Dubai is all set to play host to the prestigious annual convention of the world's third largest travel association that brings more than 1,200 decision-makers of Germany's influential travel industry to the emirate for five days starting October 12.
Dubai, UAE, October 10, 2005 (XTVWorld.Com) -- Dubai’s travel industry
has extended its support and cooperation through the Dubai Department of Tourism
and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and its Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB) in ensuring
the successful staging of the annual gathering of German Association of Travel
Agents and Tour Operators (DRV).
The emirate is the seventh venue outside Europe to host the convention in DRV’s
55-year history and the first on the Arabian Peninsula.
The state-of-the-art Dubai International Convention Centre (DICC) is the venue
of the convention being attended by the DRV board members and chairpersons of
the biggest travel groups in Europe. A gala opening ceremony with the presence
of VIPs from Germany and Dubai has also been planned.
DRV has over 5,000 national and international members, including the biggest
European tour operators, TUI, Thomas Cook and Rewe Touristik. More than 80 % of
German travellers organise their holidays through the DRV member-companies.
Dubai Convention Bureau’s (DCB) Director, Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, said:
“The DRV convention will be a high point in the strong ties that exist between
Dubai and Germany. We see a great future and wonderful period of growth in
bilateral relations, especially in the travel sector.”
He added: “This convention will encourage more German companies and
associations to benefit from Dubai’s unmatched capabilities and strategic
advantages. This convention strongly reflects the long-lasting relationship we
have developed with influential institutions like the DRV.”
Special facilities, including the setting up of a welcome booth and information
centres, have been made for the delegates. Hotels hosting the DRV delegates have
also taken extra efforts to provide for a memorable stay.
A big German media delegation is accompanying the delegation to cover the DRV
convention and will be visiting major infrastructure and real estate
developments taking shape in Dubai.
