The internationally known production of the beloved TV series The Beachcombers returns for some Christmas antics in an all new made for TV movie. Shooting begins this Summer in Gibsons, BC, Canada.

VANCOUVER, BC (PRWEB) May 4, 2004--Back by popular demand, the world’s favourite Canadian family drama series will be returning to television once again for A BEACHCOMBERS CHRISTMAS made-for-TV movie to air in December 2004. THE NEW BEACHCOMBERS movie that CBC aired last November drew an impressive 723,000 viewers, making it the highest rated CBC TV premier movie of the fall season.

“A lot of people who grew up watching this show love to sit down to watch this with their own children,” said NEW BEACHCOMBERS Producer Nick Orchard. “We’re excited about producing this wonderful family drama. We’d like to do a BEACHCOMBERS special annually.”

The original BEACHCOMBERS, which attracted an average 1.5 million CBC viewers each week for 19 seasons, has a huge following and still airs all over the world. On CBC’s 50th Anniversary web site THE BEACHCOMBERS was voted the show most wanted to be seen again and in 1998, it was voted the most popular show of all time on the CBC.

The same cast from THE NEW BEACHCOMBERS movie will be back again for this second movie, directed by Anne Wheeler, which begins shooting in Gibsons for four weeks this summer. The cast includes Jackson Davies (who is also Executive Producer), Dave Thomas, Deanna Milligan, Cameron Bancroft, Graham Greene and Kendall Cross. The great cast, and the addition of several 20-somethings, helped draw young and “old school” viewers alike to THE NEW BEACHCOMBERS movie.

This has already been a big year for THE BEACHCOMBERS, which was just named a Masterworks and was selected for special preservation by the AV Preservation Trust. The trust receives federal funding and works with partners like the CBC and the National Film Board to promote and preserve Canada’s audio and visual heritage.

This year spend Christmas at Molly’s Reach. For more information on THE NEW BEACHCOMBERS go to www.thebeachcombers.ca or www.cbc.ca/beachcombers and for photos go to www.cbc.ca/imagegallery.
