(PRWEB) May 26, 2004 -- The Theatre-Studio, Inc./PlayTime Series Presents Syllogism.
“Anything that’s untidy and unsanitary gives me hives…”
The Theatre-Studio, Inc. (TSI) presents the one-act literature of the absurd piece Syllogism as a part of its TSI/Playtime Series. The performances are scheduled for Wednesday, May 26th at 8:00 pm and Friday, May 28th at 8:00 pm. Founded in 1980, The Theatre-Studio, Inc., is a not-for-profit, self-sustaining Resident Off-Broadway institution chartered by the State of New York. Its purpose is to work with new theatrical ideas, developing them to become quality productions for the legitimate theatre, and for film and television.
The TSI/Playtime Series is an on-going series of workshop performances produced solely by TSI. Its purpose is to provide playwrights, directors, and actors with a low-or no-cost, intimate venue for first-time presentations and re-works of both new and established plays and adaptations, allowing them to develop and hone their skills in a professional environment.
A cross between Sartre’s No Exit and Genet’s The Balcony, the world of Syllogism centers on three troubled souls. Arlene is the anal-retentive executive of the den. Leonardo is the big-hearted man-child hopelessly in need of courage. And Jessica is the affable teenager carrying an overwhelming burden.
Through desperation and despondency, they gather each day for a series of scatological free associative banter that belies a much deeper psychosis.
