The purpose of Island Love Songs radio is to promote the music of Vancouver Island and Gulf Island recording artists locally and around the world.
Victoria, BC (PRWEB) May 25, 2004--Rick Bateman today announced the launching of the "Island Love Songs" internet radio station,
exclusively playing the soft & romantic tracks of Vancouver Island and Gulf Island recording artists. Island Love Songs is a Live365.com station that broadcasts continuously 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The purpose of Island Love Songs radio is to promote the music of Vancouver Island and Gulf Island recording artists locally and around the world.
Some of the artists on Island Love Songs are well known performers like Diana Krall, Nelly Furtado or Randy Bachman and you will also hear the music of recording artists that will be new to you. The music is of the adult contemporary or easy listening and adult contemporary genres - soft, light and positive, and includes folk, jazz, pop, spiritual, Celtic, classical or other similar styles. There are currently about twenty five artists representing just over five hours of music and more will be added steadily over time.
We will be working towards a live performance by the participating artists and a compilation CD which we will also promote to the hospitality and tourism industry locally. I am also hoping to find a local sponsor so we can eliminate the Live365 advertising. I am currently purchasing internet based advertising and print advertising for the station yet it does not provide any revenue, its all coming out of my own pocket. In the future I hope it does earn its own way, I see ways that it could, and maybe I will sell a few of my own CDs as well. I really hope local artists will see that it is a great way for them to get airplay and promotion. I hope to make this a visible aspect of the Vancouver Island tourism industry over the next few years which right now is not doing too much for local artists off island.
If a Vancouver Island or Gulf Island based recording artist wants their music on the stations they just need to submit a promotional copy of their CD. Up to three tracks can be added to the playlist. Only original material is considered. As there are over 700 island based recording artists, we will end up with a very rich and listenable station.
