H2004:beached free live music festival on sat 17th & sun 17th july, featuring THUNDER & ROACHFORD headlining.
(PREWB) May 21, 2004 -- The dates of H2004:BEACHED, the East Coast’s biggest free live music festival, were announced today (19 May).
The festival will take place on Scarborough’s South Bay Beach on the 17 and 18 July, from 12 noon to midnight on both days.
This year’s line-up headlines stadium rock artists Thunder on Saturday 17, and British soul/R&B legend Roachford on Sunday 18. Other acts include Tom Hingley and the Lovers, British newcomers Reactor, ex-Terrorvision artists Laika Dog, Rolan Bolan, son of glam rocker Marc Bolan, Canadian trip-hop artist Kate Rogers, and emerging British hip-hop duo Fingathing, plus a full support of local talent.
Facilities on site will include a licensed bar sponsored by Carling, food outlets, a viewing area for disabled people, and the usual gathering of boutique stalls that is the Beached Village.
A series of fringe events are also planned, including an extreme film day screening back-to-back seminal music flicks at the Stephen Joseph theatre, and a series of 'Audience With' evenings, at the Westwood Theatre, hosted by Clint Boon of the Inspiral Carpets, who's guests will include Steve Harley and Mani from the Stone Roses.
Clint will also turn DJ on Thursday 15 hosting one of his famous Boon Army club nights at local live music venue Vivaz. With a set that ranges from old Hacienda gems and Manchester classics through to soundtrack stuff, reggae and northern soul. Clint Boon’s Boon Army is probably one of the most eclectic club nights - and, yes, it includes Inspirals and Clint Boon Experience tunes.
On Saturday 17, from Midnight, The Spa Grand Hall, next to the festival site, will host The Grand Central Records Beached All- Nighter, presented in association with the Manchester based label Grand Central Records - purveyors of fine beats, soul, hip hop, funk and dance the legendry label are known for throwing the best parties!!
DJ's on the night include label boss Mark Rae (Rae & Christian), who will be previewing tracks from his forthcoming album with a live PA from songstress and long time collaborator Veba as well as soul sensation Pete Simpson. Other DJ's include Dual Control, providing street soul and hip hop; The Nudge, playing anything from fat northern soul beats to funky breaks and the father of the 'Bristol Scene' Rob Smith (smith & mighty) will be dropping deep down and dirty beats with Bristol based MC Kelz. The night will run from midnight until 6am and Grand Central can guarantee dancing all night!!
