arajguru writes "Number of tenants indicates the rising interest for DFC within global perishable cargo sector The Dubai Flower Centre (DFC) has successfully enrolled many global operators and institutions from various regions, reiterating its status as a leading state-of-the-art transshipment facility for perishable goods in the region.
Dubai, UAE, November 6, 2006 (XTVWorld.Com) -- Though only recently commissioned, traders and growers from Europe, South America, East and West African regions besides South Asia have already recognized the significant role the DFC plays in perishable goods transshipment and have begun operations at the centre in Dubai.
Mr. Ibrahim Ahli, Marketing Director, DFC said: "Some of the tenants who have become part of the DFC are from Holland, Germany, Ecuador, Colombia,
Ghana, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Iran, and Jordan as well as the United Arab Emirates. At the moment approximately 90% of our tenants are operating in the floricultural industry."
This is a clear indication of the interest generated within the global perishables cargo sector by the successful commissioning in July and subsequent handling operations at the DFC, Mr. Ahli added.
"We have a waiting list of international companies who want to have an office or warehouse. Our target is to have
a good mix of major international players with different strategies, products, sizes and from different parts of the world. We are very close to achieving this," Mr. Ahli pointed out.
"There are several advantages for those who have become part of the DFC operations. However, key features such as a business-friendly free-zone environment, the latest technology and processes which ensure seamless and prompt delivery from the producer to the end-consumer seem to be attracting more and more number
of global operators to the DFC," said Mr. Ahli.
Other features that have found favour with international companies include DFC's position as a one-stop shop for local and international buyers, traders and exporters; excellent international connections via air, land and sea; direct access to international traders and customers, and immediate connections to local markets in the GCC region.
"The DFC, located at the Dubai International Airport which serves over 117 airlines connecting more
than 165 destinations, has the best geographical advantage," added Mr. Ahli.
Tenants at the DFC can make use of a closed loop supply chain system that ensures the right temperature from aircraft to the climate-controlled zone and a supply chain intelligence that offers computerized tracking system among others.
Besides flowers, the DFC handles other perishable products like fruits & vegetables, fresh meat and seafood/fish, or pharmaceuticals and biological products.
