Synchronica Wins Siemens Deal - the World's First SyncML Firmware Update

Synchronica is building the world's first over-the-air firmware update service for Siemens mobile. Based on the industry standard SyncML, users can update the firmware of their mobile phone simply by selecting a simple menu item in their phones.
Berlin; Kamp-Lintfort (PRWEB) May 19, 2004 -- Synchronica, the German software specialist for wireless synchronization and device management today announced a major deal with Siemens mobile, the mobile communications group of Siemens AG. Under the deal, Synchronica will provide Siemens mobile with the world's first SyncML server delivering over-the-air firmware updates for Siemens mobile phones.
With this new solution updating the firmware of a mobile phone is as simple as selecting a menu item - The mobile phone establishes a wireless connection to the Synchronica server which then automatically installs the most up-to-date firmware onto the device. With the Synchronica solution, users always have the latest software without the hassle of visiting a shop to get an update.
"We are solving a major headache for device manufacturers and mobile operators. Manual firmware update for millions of phones is causing enormous support costs each month. Synchronica and Siemens mobile are pioneers in SyncML and will be the first to offer over-the-air firmware update based on SyncML.
