Smt. Nita Mukesh Ambani, President, Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation, was awarded the 'Samaj Seva Vishwa Vibhushan' at the hands of H.E. Shri S.M. Krishna, Governor of Maharashtra, at the Bharat Nari Shakti 2005 award function on the occasion of the International Women's Day

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, March 9, 2005 (Xtvworld.Com) --  The award function was held on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2005 by the Wisitex Foundation, in Mumbai.

Smt. Nita Ambani was conferred the award for her ‘dynamic leadership qualities, far reaching vision, selfless services and innovative ideas’ particularly in health care and education.

In her acceptance speech, Smt. Nita Ambani drew attention on women in society. Referring to a saying in Sanskrit, God resides at a place where women are worshiped, Smt. Ambani said, “Sometimes our society ignores this high ideal. Today’s celebration reminds us of those values. It will also encourage more women to seek fulfillment in servicing the society.”

In addition to being President of the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation, Smt. Nita Ambani is also Chairperson of the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai.

The Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted primarily to promoting education and health care services for the needy and under privileged in India. The Dhirubhai Ambani International School is a K-12 school based on Indian and International curricula, which aims to develop a new model for school education in India.

Smt. Nita Ambani has deep-rooted conviction in raising living standards for the underprivileged and needy. This is reflected in her taking the task of providing for a fair share of representation to the physically challenged in call centers and associated facilities in the Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, Navi Mumbai. Smt. Ambani has personally supervised the development of villages around all Reliance projects and taken a keen interest in the upliftment of people in the vicinity.
