Hamlet, the leading supplier of high quality yet affordable test and measurement equipment, was rewarded for its continuing innovation at NAB 2008 with a Pick Hit Award from Broadcast Engineering. The award went to the latest module for the portable Flexiscope platform.

Amersham, UK, April 22, 2008 (XTVWorld.Com) -- The platform is a bespoke digital processing solution developed by Hamlet specifically for its test and measurement instruments. The same platform is used in the portable Flexiscope and MicroFlex handheld instruments, and in the DigiScope and MonitorScope rack mount or stand alone units. All allow the connection of identity modules which allow the user to change the available functionality instantly.

The new module, Option 3, which won the Pick Hit award, includes a precision test signal generator as well as SD and HD SDI analysis for closed-loop testing of equipment and circuits using just a single handheld device. Like the rest of the Flexiscope range, tests available include complete measurement and control of video and audio measurements.

"We speak continually to our users worldwide, and they give us excellent feedback on what they really need to do their jobs," said Steve Nunney, director of Hamlet. "The message came back to us that they wanted to perform complete tests from a single point, and could we incorporate test signal generation as well as measurement and monitoring in the Flexiscope module range . Of course we could, and as well as winning this award we found ourselves fielding a huge amount of serious interest from customers throughout NAB."

The new module was launched at NAB 2008 and is immediately available.

Note to Editors:
Currently celebrating its 22nd anniversary in 2008, Hamlet Video International Limited is an English company dedicated to the design, manufacture and supply of innovative, high quality and cost-effective test and measurement equipment to the video and broadcast industries worldwide.

Hamlet has completely eliminated CRTs from its instruments, thereby removing the need for routine display recalibration and thus reducing significantly the cost of ownership of a precision instrument. With its latest devices using an all-digital internal platform, Hamlet has moved towards a calibrated-for-life test measurement, monitoring and quality control system.

Hamlet's vectorscopes and waveform monitors either use an internal precision LCD display or provide an output to either a video or a computer monitor, which can be routed to the operator's convenience. In either case the graticules are generated digitally within the device, so provides a continually reliable and accurate reference.

The company also develops test measurement, monitoring and quality control software to be used in conjunction with broadcast systems running on standard computers for the analysis of base band or file based signals. Finally, Hamlet manufactures digitally-stable signal generators as a companion to its measurement devices.
