The Starlight Cafe Theatre is Back for its Second Summer Season Under the Stars!

Merced resident, Matthew Powell, makes his dream come true for another season. The Starlight Cafe Theatre is proud to announce their summer 2004 line up!

(PRWEB) May 21, 2004--Artistic Director and Founder of The Starlight Café Theatre, Matthew Powell, has been busy working with both Playhouse Merced and the Merced College Theater during the off-season of his theatre. Powell was in The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged), Cabaret, and The Laramie Project. As if that wasn’t enough, he directed Merced College’s Production of The Rocky Horror Show, and is currently rehearsing for a principal role in the upcoming Chorus Line at Playhouse Merced. Somehow between all of those rehearsals and performances, he managed to dedicate time to his dream ~ The Starlight Café Theatre ~ and is proud to announce his second summer season!

Opening Memorial Day Weekend and running May 28, 29, 30 & June 4 & 5 is Neil Simon’s classic – The Star-Spangled Girl

All shows begin at 8:00 p.m. at The Mansion House located on the corner of 20th Street and Canal. For those of you wishing to treat your pallets prior to the performances, enjoy our 4-course “Dinner-all-the-way package” or, if you’d prefer something lighter, check out Heather Vann’s special new café menu. The Mansion House will open its doors for dinner service at 6:30 p.m. Show tickets are $15 and do not include your meal.

For their second show, The Starlight Café will be moving to the air-conditioned comfort of the Mainzer Theater, located on the corner of Main Street and “N” Street, for a charming musical the whole family can enjoy - You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Shows begin at 8:00 p.m. on July 29, 30, 31 & August 5, 6, 7. There will also be two special Brunch Matinees catered by the Mansion House on August 1 & 8. Brunch service will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the shows will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Next they are back to the Mansion House for Edward Albee’s Pulitzer Prize winning play - Seascape on August 27, 28, & September 3, 4, 10 &11.

They will close their outdoor season at the Mansion House with another Pulitzer Prize winner, Beth Henley's beautiful, bittersweet comedy, Crimes of the Heart on October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 & 16.

Powell said, “We are busy rehearsing, building sets, hanging lights and cooking up great treats, now all we need is you. Join us, under the stars at The Starlight Café Theatre.”
