Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) May 19, 2004 -– “To celebrate the release of my debut novel, Beneath the Morvan Moon, I hosted a whodunit party. I gave each guest a set of clues. They then had to seek out other guests to eliminate suspects, motives, weapons, and locations. That was really meant to be a fun sort of icebreaker, which it was. But then I got the idea of doing something similar using my website. So I put out a call on various writing lists I belong to and the response was overwhelming,” Mroch says.
Twenty-one authors responded wholeheartedly to Mroch’s request for loaned web space. The result is an interactive game where readers try and determine who killed Mr. D. Ed Body, the president of the Riverside Mystery Readers (RMR). The (fictional) group meets every other month at the Church of the Good Shepherd in the Craig Hall, a gathering room at the church. Six suspects in particular had reason to off Mr. Body, who went missing during a book discussion meeting. Foul play is most definitely suspected and it’s up to contestants to visit the participating author websites to figure out whodunit, where, why, and with what.
Participating author Jo Barrett’s sentiments of “Sounds like fun!” and Charles Benoit’s “I think it sounds like a good idea - lots of fun and something different,” reflect the general consensus of all the authors who volunteered to participate in this adventure. The contest ends June 5. A drawing from correct submissions will be held on June 7, at which time the winner will be announced –and the killer’s identity revealed. The winner can expect to receive at the very least an autographed copy of Beneath the Morvan Moon, a computer version of the board game Clue, and a computer version of a Sherlock Holmes game.
