The First Ladies of Chic, Peaches & Herb, Maxine Nightingale & Anita Ward Perform at The Riverside Memorial Auditorium

Riverside (PRWEB) May 19, 2004 -– The Riverside Memorial Auditorium, 3485 Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside, will be the site of “The Reunited Concert” featuring The First Ladies of Chic, Peaches & Herb, Maxine Nightingale & Anita Ward. The fun-filled event will take place Saturday, June 19 at 8:00 PM. A celebrity After-Party follows at 10:30 PM ($100 ticket holders only).

Proceeds from this exclusive one night only event, held in memory of Selena Marrero, will benefit Inland Aids Project (IAP). Selena was a client of Inland Aids Project, the oldest non-profit organization providing HIV-related services to low-income individuals and families in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. It was not until Selena was 3 years old that she was properly diagnosed with AIDS allowing the disease to ravage her before treatments were started. Only a year later, at the age of 4, Selena lost her mother, Evelyn, to AIDS. Selena fought discrimination and injustice and forged ahead. On January 31, 2004, at the age of 15, Selena Marrero lost her battle. Better education and breaking through prejudice could have prevented this tragedy.

Inland Aids Project currently provides services to over 1100 clients and 425 children infected/affected by HIV/AIDS in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. IAP provides comprehensive case management, mental health services, child care, housing assistance, food, transportation, legal and advocacy at no cost to clients or families. In addition, IAP reaches 70,000 community members annually with HIV prevention and education services, and offers free and anonymous HIV testing.

More than 1,700 devoted fans and music enthusiasts including local business owners, corporate citizens, entertainment industry executives and representatives and supporters of IAP will enjoy the songs of the seventies performed by the artists that made them famous. An after-party celebration immediately follows the event where VIP guests will mingle with the artists while enjoying a gourmet cocktail reception, entertainment and photo opportunities.

Hosted by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, “The Reunited Concert” is presented by Bosch Automotive. Sponsors include: Premium Distributing, KGGI 99.1 Radio, KCAL TV, KCBS TV, Frontiers News Magazine, In Los Angeles Magazine, The Black Voice, VIP Nightclub, American Airlines, MOMS Pharmacy, The Palm Springs Bottom Line, Emani Professional Cosmetics, Krolewska Vodka, Scarcelli Limos, Sprint Communications, Skip Fordyce Harley Davidson, Emerson & Farrar Jewelers, The Press Enterprise, Desert Daily Guide and Hispanic Lifestyle Magazine.
