Navtel Communications Inc has announced it has signed an agreement with Deutsche Telekom Fachhochschule Leipzig to co-operate in the field of signaling in future mobile networks (UMTS).

(PRWEB) May 17, 2004 -- Navtel Communications Inc., a leading developer and global provider of test equipment for the laboratories of network equipment manufacturers and operators has announced that it has signed an agreement with Deutsche Telekom Fachhochschule Leipzig to co-operate in the field of signaling in future mobile networks (UMTS).

Gerold Haase of Navtel Deutschland and Prof. Detlef Schlayer of Fachhochschule Leipzig are responsible for the managing the project which began on 1st May 2004 and which will run for the entire academic year. The common goal over the next year is to obtain practical knowledge and experience in the field of signaling processes within UMTS networks. The knowledge gained will be available for both parties to use and feedback will be delivered at future events such as the InterWatch User Day that Navtel Deautschland GmbH are organizing on 24th June 2004. Specific contributions to the agreement by Deutsche Telekom Fachhochschule Leipzig include the evaluation of protocol traces, user feedback and assistance with the creation of application notes and case studies based on real-world situations. Navtel Deutschland will provide an InterWatch 95000 with all the tools required to carry out UMTS- network protocol analysis and tests (STM1, E1, up-to-date basic equipment, UMTS-software) as well as co-operating with all the academic projects and studies that have been made possible as a result of this agreement.
